How to Pay for Senior Home Care

Below are some common questions and some straight-forward answers.

Who pays for Senior Home Care?

The most common way is out-of-pocket, or what is commonly referred to as ‘private pay’. The majority of people using a private senior home care agency is paying via check, automatic bank draft, credit card, debit card, or cash.

The three other ways that The Grandson and most other agencies accept payment is via Veteran Affairs Benefits (VA Benefits), Long Term Care Insurance (LTCI) or an enacted Worker’s Comp Insurance Policy.

Will my Health Insurance Policy pay for Senior Home Care?

No, not typically. There are a few cases, but they are very rare, and the coverage they provide is extremely minimal. For all practical purposes, normal health insurance policies DO NOT cover in-home care services as it is considered ‘non-medical’.

Does Medicaid or Medicare pay for Senior Home Care?

Yes, they can in some cases when the requirements are met. However, The Grandson and most senior homecare agencies do not accept Medicaid or Medicare as payment. The reason for that is that the state reimbursement rate is severely low which makes it extremely difficult to provide quality care. The Grandson does not accept Medicaid or Medicare as payment. We are Waco’s leading Senior Home Care Agency in terms of quality, customer satisfaction, and value.

How am I charged for the services we receive?

We have a very simple pricing system that is based on your hourly rate. We use a precise, tech-enabled billing system to ensure optimal accuracy for billing time down to the minute. This enables you to see on your invoice the exact time your caregiver was there, and you are billed only for that time.

If you have transportation services setup as well, then you will be billed at a simple mileage rate for miles incurred by your caregiver while performing tasks (ie: picking up groceries, driving to a doctor appointment, going to the bank, etc).

Can a family member pay for Senior Caregiving Services?

Absolutely! The payer can be almost anyone and does not have to be the client themselves. If you don’t want your loved one to see the invoices, statements, or know that you are paying for them, we can easily arrange this without a problem. We specialize in the little details to serve the entire family, not just the one needing the care.
